Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.
Each week they will post a new Top Ten list that one of their bloggers over at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join.
The topic for this week is: Top Ten Books that Feature Travel in Some Way
Road trip, cruise, time travel – as long as there’s travel of some kind in it, it can count for this week’s list!
I love books that contain travel. There’s something about reading about characters going some-place that make you feel like you’re almost there too.
1. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith (transatlantic flight) – This is the ultimate travel book. Set over a few days most of the action occurs during the flight from the US to London or in the airport prior to the flight. It’s sweet and very quick to read.
2. Saving June by Hannah Harrington (road trip across the US) – Road trip books have a special place in my heart and this is one of my favourites. Fantastic characters and a brilliant playlist.
3. Passion by Lauren Kate (time travel through memories) – I just though that the way Luce travels though the Announces to be so unique and clever. Probably my favourite thing in the series.
4. Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants by Ann Brasheras (There is travel in the title! And these pants certainly make their way around the world many times over)
5. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (space travel) – I read this book in high school because the boy I adored loved this series. It’s fun, quirky and at times utterly ridiculous but still one of my favourite books.
6. Babysitter’s Club Special #1: Babysitters On Board! (Cruise ship) – This is the book that made me want to go on a cruise. And Disneyland! But mostly cruises!
7. Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot (Train trip) – Whilst this book may not be centred around the train trip, I adore Lizzie and her antics in France. It’s Meg Cabot at her best (although the next two books in the trilogy don’t live up to the first book in the series)
8. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (Time Travel) – This book (known as Cross Stitch in Australia) has a few of my favourite things. Highlander warriors in Scotland with some magic that causes time travel! That said – I haven’t finished reading this book yet.. It’s so long and I think I’m trying to drag it out. There’s only one time you can finish reading a book for the first time.
9. Only in Spain by Nellie Bennett (Memoir about moving overseas) – This book nearly made me want to take up flamenco dancing and move to Spain myself!
10. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (flying with WINGS!) – Not only did this book have flying creatures (!) but it also was set in Europe with characters travelling all over the place. One of my favourite books.
So that’s my TTT for this week. Are there any great books regarding travel that you think I’ve missed? Any that you agree on. Feel free to comment – I love hearing from everyone.
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy are on my list too, and I’ll have to check out the other titles on your list, I love travel books! 🙂 My TTT list: http://aliceinreaderland.com/2013/06/03/travel/

Another Hitchhiker’s Guide fan?! Hope you’ve got your towel! I love travel books too – and any book set in Europe. They’re just… so incredible!
Outlander is on my list as well, and I’m in the same place as you! It’s pretty thick, and so good that I’ve been taking forever to read it for the same reason you mentioned.
At least there are many books in the series to read Claire and Jamie’s adventures when we both finish Outlander!
I LOVE you for including a throwback like Baby-sitter’s on Board. I loved this series as a kid! Hi-five!
Oh. My. Goodness. As a cranky old gargoyle, I shouldn’t be admitting to owning a well-thumbed copy of the Baby-sitters on Board (with all the excitement of a super-sized SUPER SPECIAL!)….but I am. I owned it. I read it. You’re exactly right, it makes cruises sound desirable.

Only In Spain sounds good! I liked Saving June as well. Why is noone listing Wanderlove I wonder? It’s such a great book!
It’s been forever since I first read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. All four of the main characters were definitely going places (except for Tibby, if I remember correctly). Nice list!
I see a couple favorites on here and some I’ve never heard of. Passion sounds great.
I have seen Saving June on quite many of these lists – I own a copy of it but have not really been planning to read it. But now I really want to read it because everyone seems to be really loving it.
Great list! I loved Saving June, and Statistical Probability was such a cute book. I really need to read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy soon, I’ve been meaning to do so for so long but never got round to it.
My Top Ten
I still need to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I’ve heard amazing things about it.
Thanks for stopping by my TTT!
