Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing

(Note: This review will contain slight spoilers for the previous four books in the Lux series)

When Katy first met the boy next door she never realized just how complicated everything would be. Aliens powered by the sun are one thing but when their supernatural siblings decide to visit Earth and take over the world… well that’s something completely different. With Daemon gone and Katy holed up with two Origins, her only link to what is happening outside is watching the devastating destruction on TV. Desperate to do something to help, Katy inadvertently tangles herself deeper in danger. The Luxen are powerful beyond anything Earth has ever seen before and their reach extends from physical damage to emotional manipulation. Friends become enemies and all hope seems lost. But Katy hasn’t overcome all she has just to be beaten now. She will do whatever she can to help defeat the invading Luxen – or die trying.

Over the course of this series I’ve really come to love the relationship between Katy and Daemon. She’s a human book blogger whose biggest problem used to be getting posts up in time. Now she’s trying to save the world from an alien invasion and keep herself alive. I initially thought this series was a little shallow but with each instalment, things get a little deeper and I’m really glad with how the author developed the characters and the plot over the five books.

This book was a great way to say goodbye to the Lux series. It’s full of action and adventure with plenty of drama too. With such a dangerous enemy invading the Earth, things get tough for the characters we have come to know and love. There is bloodshed and times of intense fear and horror but there are also incredibly tender moments too. Somehow the combination of the two mix to make everything that much more intense.

One of the things I liked most about this book is how it tied together everything in the Lux world. Characters from books past make their reappearances but also characters and events from the author’s adult paranormal romance novel, Obsession (Arum #1) – which is set in the same universe as the Lux series, are included. Whilst reading Obsession is not necessary to enjoy Opposition I thought it was great for fans of the Arum novel to see Hunter and Sienna again. The Origin play their part in the Luxen battle and things which have happened previously haven’t been forgotten. Every moment in this series has been leading up to the events in this book and it has been a great journey.

As for Daemon and Katy fans – don’t worry. There is plenty of interactions between our favourite Alien/Hybrid Human couple. I enjoy their chemistry and by the end of the series I feel they both had earned a happy ending… that is if the world hasn’t come to an end.

Opposition was a satisfying ending to what has been an enjoyable series. I wasn’t expecting to like the Lux series as much as I have and I’m really glad that I kept reading after the first book. For people who have enjoyed the previous books in the series – you will LOVE Opposition. Action, adventure, romance and Daemon. What more could you want?

And for those who have finished reading Opposition, Jennifer L Armentrout has written a special thank you to her fans. It’s a bonus little scene set a couple of years after the ending of Opposition
