Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite 2016 Releases (so far!)

It’s Tuesday! And that means it’s time to participate in the meme created by Broke and Bookish where bloggers share their top ten based on a given topic.

Today’s Topic is: Top Ten Favourite 2016 releases so far.

Now I’ve been a little out of it this year in terms of reading but here at three of the books released this year which I’ve loved reading.

Lady Midnight (The Dark Art... The Winner's Kiss (The Winn... The Beast (Black Dagger Bro...

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (The Dark Artifices #1) – Great start to a new series. The more Clare I read the more I find myself sucked into her stories and really getting behind her characters.

The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski (The Winner’s Trilogy #3) – Loved this series and this is a book I had been waiting for. It’s amazing. If you liked the first two books I think you’ll be satisfied by this conclusion

The Beast by JR Ward (Black Dagger Brotherhood #14) – The BDB was the first series which I found myself waiting for new instalments. It’s the first series which got me online trying to find everything I could about it and in a way lead me to finding book reviews and blog and then blogging myself. Whilst I’ve not been the biggest fan of the most recent books, I enjoyed The Beast and will continue to auto-buy the next books in this gritty, romantic urban fantasy series.

And here are seven books released this year that I can’t wait to get started on

The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

The Crown by Kiera Cass

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Beautiful Burn by Jamie Maguire

Dirty by Kylie Scott

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

What books have you adored reading this year? New ones, older ones – please share with me your recent favourite reads!

  1. OHH! I’m so glad The Winner’s Kiss is a great ending, because The Winner’s Crime is a bit of a let down and I’m really hoping Kestrel and Arin get the happy ending they deserve.

Also, you should DEFINITELY start reading Glass Sword. It is BEAUTIFUL

    • I find that happens to me a bit, aDITI. The second book in trilogies often seem to be laying down a lot of ground work and are a little disappointing considering the first book. But from my point of view – Winner’s Kiss was satisfying. It felt right with regards to the characters and the ending worked. Will definitely get onto reading Glass Sword! 😀 Happy reading!

    • I never actually finished the Mortal Instruments! I know, I should probably be ashamed of myself. But I definitely think you’ll like Lady Midnight when you get around to reading it! 😀 It’s great, Kyra. Happy reading!

  2. Hi! I’ve not read anything by Cassandra Clare yet, I know shocking right! But I picked up Lady Midnight for a £1 on amazon the other day. Should I read her other books first? I can’t wait to read Strange the Dreamer either. Laini Taylor’s writing is amazing!

    Happy Reading

    • Hi Rachel! oh wow… what a bargain! You don’t need to have read the Mortal Instruments or Infernal Devices series first to understand Lady Midnight. But I do think that Lady Midnight does have some spoilers for the previous series. And I agree – I absolutely ADORED Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I think that’s why I’m so excited about her new book! Thanks for visiting 🙂

  3. Great list!
Obviously I haven’t read any of these. I haven’t read any 2016 release at all. I bought some but they are still in my bookshelves.

    My TTT.

    • I’ve heard amazing things about it too, Jess. I bought a copy of this one the other day. Now I’m just waiting for the perfect uninterrupted kind of day so I can read it and hope it lives up to my sky-high expectations!

  4. This is a great list! I keep seeing The Winner’s Kiss trilogy everywhere, and I haven’t read any of them yet. This may be the push I needed to go pick them up, lol. I also haven’t read any Sarah J. Maas (I know, I know…). Thanks for sharing, and hopefully jumpstarting me into the last few years of great books!

    • The Winner’s Curse is the first book in the trilogy and it was one of my favourite books I read that year. And oh… Sarah J Maas is one I keep recommending to everything. I bought half a dozen copies of Throne of Glass just so I could push them on (I mean give them as gifts) my nearest and dearest friends! If you do get around to reading them I hope you enjoy them as much as I did, Janae!

  5. A friend of mine keeps telling me I need to read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but I haven’t yet. Fourteen books already! I guess I’d better start reading! This is a great list. I hope you get to all the new ones you listed as well.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

    • I get intimidated by series which have SO MANY books out before I start it. For this one, there were only 6 books released when I began 😀
BDB is a series which is more gritty than a lot of vampire series out there but still very steamy. It’s not for everyone but I still enjoy it. Thanks for visiting 😀

  6. I keep hearing Marie’s ‘Winner’ trilogy is amazing (and in fact did see this one on several Top Ten Tuesday lists), but I’ve yet to read this series! The good news is when I finally do, I’ll be able to binge read it. 😉 “The Crown” is on my must read list as well. Great list – and Kate, thank you so much for the Finding Wonderland visit! 🙂

    • Binge reading is the best! I love not having to wait after tortuous cliffhangers but instead being able to completely indulge myself on a series! Thanks for visiting, Rissi! Hope you enjoy the Winner’s Trilogy and The Crown when you do read them 😀
