The topic for this week isTop Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014

Rebecca Lim (The Astrologer’s Daughter) – Read this book and loved it. The writing is beautiful and I loved the quintessential Aussieness of it with the realistic and heartbreaking story of loss and finding oneself.

Meg Wolitzer (Belzhar) – Belzhar was one of those books which kept me thinking for days. It’s just.. lovely.

KA Tucker (Five Ways to Fall) – One of my favourite New Adult contemporary romance reads. A sexy yet fun read with moments of emotional turmoil.

Laurie Halse Anderson (The Impossible Knife of Memory) – I read this book in January and it was.. powerful. It’s heartbreakingly beautiful and soulcrushing at the same time.

E Lockhart (We Were Liars) – I’m so glad I have read E Lockhart. I loved We Were Liars. And the other day I got a copy of her newest book (The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks) which I’m beyond excited to delve into!

Marie Rutkoski (The Winner’s Curse) – Best start to a dystopian trilogy I’ve read in the longest time. It’s amazing and I’m a little in love. Still. Months later after reading it. I can’t wait to read the sequel!

Erin Lange (Dead Ends) – Two kids who are practically opposites each teaching the other important life lessons. It’s brilliant.

Rachael Craw (Spark) – IF you haven’t read Spark yet – what are you waiting for? It’s a great debut novel for what promises to be a great trilogy. Altered genetics and DNA with kick-arse warrior women and predestined destinies. Can’t wait for Stray!

Leslye Walton (The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender) – This is magical realism at its finest. This book wasn’t what I expected but it was as strange and beautiful as its title. Just.. wow. And the cover is gorgeous too!

Abbi Glines – I had not read an Abbi Glines book before this year. But since June I’ve read 12. Her books are slightly addictive and the perfect lazy day afternoon romantic read.

  1. I haven’t read Spark yet…I’m waiting for it to come in the mail.
    *waits impatiently*
I also really want to read Belzhar and We Were Liars. Just waiting on the library there.
The Winner’s curse is sitting on my bookshelf.
I’ve read Mercy by Rebecca Lim, and that was quite good, so I’ve been considering reading The Astrologer’s Daughter.

  2. I’ve literally just finished We Were Liars and it was amazing. KA Tucker and Abbi Glines both write really addictive books and I can’t get enough! I have to start reading The Winner’s Curse though. It’s been sitting in my to read pile for a while…

  3. Abbi Glines books are really addictive. I actually rarely really like them, but I can’t stop reading them. I guess it’s not that I don’t like them, but I have all these issues with them, but I just don’t care because I want to read about these two people coming together.

  4. I’m currently reading Spark and loving it!!! also i have Rebecca Lim’s The Astrologer’s Daughter on my shelve waiting for me to read soon. I actually got a chance to meet Rebecca Lim at a book signing for the national bookshop day this year. I have yet to read anything by E Lockhart or Abbi Glines but I might pick up their book soon. Great post!!

  5. Meg Wolitzer, Laurie Halse Anderson, E. Lockhart and Marie Rutkoski are all rather talented, aren’t they? 🙂 I really want to read The Astrologer’s Daughter, Dead Ends, Spark and The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavendar sooner than later. 🙂
