Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they will post a new Top Ten list that one of their bloggers over at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join.
The topic for this week is: Ten Books I Almost Put Down But Didn’t
I rarely stop reading a book once I start it. I push though until it is finished if it is a book I’m not enjoying. But there have been a few which I’ve wanted to stop but persevered with because when I start something – I want to finish it.
Books Which I Ended Up Enjoying But Were SO SLOW To Start:

Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead

DarkFever by Karen Marie Moning
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

Books I Wasn’t Overly Fond of But Continued on With the Series and Ended Up ADORING the Series:

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Books I Struggled to Finish and When I Did, I Didn’t Enjoy the Ending:

Love in the Time of Chloera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
For some of these I put them down for over a year before I picked them up again to finish them but I think that it still counts that I didn’t “put them down” because I finished them in the end.
Any here you liked? Any here you too had problems finishing? Let me know what you think about this week’s topic 🙂
I nearly put down Atonement too. I just couldn’t get on with it. My feelings about it now are that it wasn’t amazing, but I’m glad that I gave it a go. I really need to read some Neil Gaiman. I keep seeing his books around, but have never got to them!

I love Percy Jackson! There’s such an extraordinary amount of imagination. Plus the chapter titles are cool. I still don’t like The Mortal Instruments, though :/
I’ll keep this in mind when I finally get around to reading Gameboard of the Gods – I love Richelle’s books but I have put this one off for some reason!

I had a hard time with Dragon Tattoo at first also! It was really boring in the beginning, but I ended up really liking it and the entire series.

The Queen’s Choice has a GORGEOUS cover and my co-blogger has been pushing me to read Gameboard of the Gods! I put off Darkfever too, but haven’t picked it up again. THE LIGHTNING THIEF. PERCY. <33 Not in love with the Mortal Instruments–actually, the series got worse for me as it went on. I loved the first three books. Thanks for sharing!

I’m glad you stuck with Soulless and that it worked out for you. I personally love the book from pretty much the start and the series was really fun for me.

Yes! The Girl with the dragon tattoo was very slow paced at first. Whoa! Being such a lengthy book I almost gave up as well. Glad I didn’t.

I had the same issue with City of Bones! I’m glad I finished it, because now I’ve read it three times over! Although I applaud you for finishing the Queen’s Choice – I DNFed at 10%. I just couldn’t get past the dryness, and I couldn’t connect to the characters at all.

I adore City of Bones and the rest of the series! Shall have to find out about the rest of your listed books.

I haven’t read any of these, though I do want to see what I think of Souless, since I think I was recommended it and it sounds really interesting! Hopefully it ends up being a really good read!

Quite a selection, Kate. I can understand why you would’ve put them down, though. The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo is one that I won’t even attempt to read.
