Top Ten Tuesday: Books I HAD To Buy…But Are Still Sitting On My Shelf Unread

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Each week they will post a new Top Ten list that one of their bloggers over at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join.

This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books I HAD To Buy…But Are Still Sitting On My Shelf Unread

I’m currently in the process of moving house. It’s a lot more time-consuming than I realized. And because of the packing and whatnot I found so many books that I’d bought and then pushed to the back of the bookshelves or (because I have more books than clothes) were currently gathering dust in my closet.

And I discovered one very important thing. I’m a sucker for a boxed set. I knew this before but looking at the series I had not yet started but seemed to own many of their books… I blame this on the boxed set.

Just the other day I came across a Shopaholic trilogy. Although I had already read two of the books, the third was one I’d been hanging out to read. And it was there. In a gorgeous box. And the three books together were less than ten dollars. Just the one I hadn’t read was going for almost $15. Using some Becky Bloomwood logic somehow I found myself leaving the store with boxed set in hand feeling so very proud of my awesome rationalizing skills.

So this Top Ten Tuesday for me is a little more specific. I’m going with Top Ten Boxed Sets that I had to buy and haven’t read. Yet I’ll get there someday… hopefully.

(Links take you to the first book in these series on goodreads)

And a whole bunch more that I can’t see right now because I’ve already packed them.

Evermore (The Immortals, #1)Eragon (The Inheritance Cyc...A Tale of Two CitiesBlue Bloods (Blue Bloods, #1)Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)The Iron King (The Iron Fey...A Game of Thrones (A Song o...Magyk (Septimus Heap, #1)Ella Enchanted

I should probably have my own one-day book sale because for the most part I can’t see myself ever getting around to reading these…

Can you recommend any of these series? Did you dislike any? Feel free to leave me a comment and link me up to your TTT.

    • That’s true. Over a thousand pages in the most recent book. I’m sure it will be worthwhile when we finally get to the end! I love the show! Thanks for visiting.

  1. Inheritance cycle? Great! Still have to read the last one. But really good. Imortals? First one is pretty good. Haven’t gotten further then that myself. Song of Ice and Fire – I don’t know. It is one of my series to read too…

    • Thanks for the feedback. Song of Fire and Ice is so intimidating! The latest book is over a thousand pages long! I hope we both get there someday.

I loved the Eragon movie so I really should get around to reading the book – books are always better!

    • At least if there’s ever a world wide book shortage – probably because of the Zombies. It’s always the zombie’s fault! – you and I will both be sitting pretty with plenty of reading material! Thanks for visiting!

  2. I LOVE the Iron Fey series, but I also liked Ella Enchanted and the first couple books of the Inheritance Cycle. Which reminds me, I should finish the Inheritance Cycle one of these days.

    • I shall have to move the Iron Fey up my to-read list. I loved the Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa.

Thanks for the comment and I hope that one day you get around to finishing the Inheritance Cycle 🙂

  3. Ha…love that you made this into top ten boxed sets. I, too, have whole series on my shelves that sit unread. It’s almost shameful…if they weren’t so pretty. =)

    • Haha 😀 Exactly! They are not merely books – they are decorating accessories that add a pleasing aesthetic… or something.

Thanks for you comment – and the validation that my unread series are not a cause for concern! 🙂
