From USA TODAY bestselling author Chantal Fernando comes the latest in her steamy Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club series featuring biker bad boys and the strong women who love them.Vinnie was once the youngest prospect at the infamous Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club but finally, he’s going to be initiated as a full-fledged member! But when Vinnie (now known as Wolf) puts on that WDMC leather for the first time, little does he know what he’s in for. The Wind Dragons have made enemies, and being a member means being on the front lines… Chantal Fernando’s latest romance delivers everything MC fans could ask for—incredibly sexy men and the women strong enough to keep them, passionate love scenes, thrilling adventure, and even a laugh or two along the way! See why Publishers Weekly praises, “Fernando’s vivid characters burst on the page, demanding to be noticed.”

I have been loving Chantal Fernando’s Wind Dragon series so far. When I was at a bookstore last month I had a bit of a difficult decision to make. Should I buy the next one I am up to in the series (Rake’s Redemption, Wind Dragons #4) or do I skip ahead and read about one of my favourite characters in the series so far? Okay – it wasn’t really a choice at all and I bought the fifth book in the series, Wolf’s Mate, instantly. I loved the former prospect Vinnie now full fledged Wind Dragon and couldn’t wait to see just what dramas would pop up as he meets his match.

Wolf’s Mate is an exciting and steamy story featuring bikers and the women who love them. Each one can be read as a standalone but if you’re anything like me, once you read one you’ll be eager to read all about the other brothers and the women who bring them to their knees.

In Vinnie’s story he finds himself having to babysit a spoilt princess of a rival motorcycle club. But she’s nothing like he was expecting. Smart, beautiful and kind, Shay is a surprise in many ways. Having given his word to guard her for seven days, Vinnie has his work cut out for him having to protect Shay from unknown dangers whilst fighting his attraction to her.

Shay and Vinnie have chemistry from the beginning. She doesn’t let him get away with his preconceived notions of just who he thinks Talon’s cousin to be. The banter between them was fun, flirty and a just little cheeky. Vinnie has proven himself over the course of the series to be a man who puts family before everything else and his priorities are tested when he finds himself drawn to Shay. He develops feelings towards her like he’s never felt before and it makes him question his loyalties. This is contemporary romance at its finest! Their scenes together are sexy and fun but edged with a sense of danger and excitement.

But much like with the first book in the series, Dragon’s Lair, I had issues with morality. Bikers are notoriously known for being involved in some of the shadier parts of like. In Wolf’s Mate, there are actions and events which had me questioning why it was okay for our hero to do things but the rivals were scum of the earth for similar actions. I was also confused why no one seemed to use Vinnie’s road name.

The ending is a bit cliched but in many ways this is one of those books which is about the journey rather than the destination. I enjoyed how everything played out and it was a pleasure to revisit the characters I had loved from earlier in the series and see how their lives are now they have found their perfect matches.

Wolf’s Mate is a great continuation to the Wind Dragons series and Vinnie’s story was well worth the wait. Sexy, fun, full of action and romance, this book has cemented Chantel Fernando as one of my favourite Aussie contemporary writers. I shall have to go back and get myself a copy of Rake’s Redemption whilst I wait for the sixth book to be released!

  1. hummm…. I don’t read biker romances for those reasons, I read one..sort of and found it a bit cliched and stereotyped. I feel like that world is over glamoured due to SOA and I loved SOA…but real bikers would prob turn over in their graves if they knew these books existed XD
