Troublesome Twins and Dancing with Spark: Stacking the Shelves #03

STSmall

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme created and hosted by Tynga @ Tynga’s Reviews. It gives bloggers the chance to show their readers books they have bought, borrowed or received during the week.

Oh my. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten this many new books in a week except when I’ve been to the Lifeline Bookfest!

I have received so many books that I can’t wait to read (and have already started reading a few of them as soon as I got them!)

Flirty Dancing, Take Back the Skies and Searching for Sky – all thanks to Bloomsbury

Flirty Dancing by Jenny McLauchlan

Take Back the Skies by Lucy Saxon

Searching for Sky by Jillian Cantor

Spark and More Than This – Thanks to Walker Books The Minnow and The Glass Kingdom – Thanks to Text Publishing

Spark by Rachael Craw

More Than This by Patrick Ness

The Minnow by Diana Sweeney (Been so excited about this one since it won the Text Prize!)

The Glass Kingdom by Chris Flynn

The Trouble Twisters series thanks to Spec On Specfic and Allen Unwin

I was lucky enough to win the Trouble Twisters series by Garth Nix and Sean Williams (Trouble Twisters, The Monster, The Mystery of the Golden Card & Missing, Presumed Evil) from Spec on Specfic. It’s a middle grade series and looks like a lot of fun. And it’s about twins!

Speaking of twins – I’ve nearly finished my baby blanket for my niece, Audrey. Now I just need to get started on my one for Audrey’s twin, Lucy!

And because I think they’re oh so cute and very adorable, here is a picture of my nieces. I think they’re dancing out the YMCA in their sleep!

    • I’m only a few chapters in to More Than This and I’ve not read a Patrick Ness book before despite having The Knife of Never Letting Go on my coffee table for the best part of a year. He’s got a unique style and so far am enjoying it.

  1. Awww, Kate, the twins are so precious! I’m getting clucky to have one of my own. Love the blankie, there’s nothing like something hand knitted for a new bub. Have you tried booties or mittens?

Incredible haul! I’ve been lucky enough to nab a few of these too, aren’t our Aussie publishers just awesome! The only one I’ve read is More Than This, and it was utterly brilliant. Love that we’ll be reading the same books probably within days of each other, I’ll definitely be back to stalk your reviews to see what you think of them 🙂

  2. Your nieces are so cute! I tried to knit a baby blanket when my cousin was born but it turned out nothing like yours!

You have such a great haul, I brought myself More Than This but haven’t read it yet, I’ll be looking forward to seeing your review! I really love the colour of the Take Back The Skyes cover!

  3. We’re totally stacking SO many of the same books! Go Aussie bloggers, obviously. 😉 Haha! I’m super excited for The Minnow because of cover love. But I really can’t wait to start Take Back the Skies, because it’s written by a teen author and I LOVE BLOOMSBURY. They freaking rock. Happy reading! My StS!

  4. so many books (~ ・ω・)~ I haven’t bought anything for almost a month, I’m so jealous… anyway, I checked out Spark and it sounds really interesting. I’m definitely gonna look forward to that one!

Hope you enjoy your new books! 😀

  5. Take Back the Skies, ahhh! So can’t wait to read it, and I need to pick up a copy of More Than This already (and I would just for the cover, not sorry). Haha, it seriously does look like they are, so adorable!

  6. Ooh, I haven’t got those Garth Nix books yet. I have a tradition of buying Garth Nix books for my best friend every Christmas, so maybe it’ll be those… I hope you enjoy all your new books!

  7. Wonderful haul, kate. I’m a tad jealous of your Take Back the Skies copy. Though, I’ll be looking forward to your review. 🙂

Happy reading! And OMG. How cute are your nieces?!
